Our History on Two Wheels

From the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps in the 1890s, to Major Taylor's 1899 world championship, and Nelson Vails' 1984 Olympic triumph, the bike has always been more than transportation—it’s been a path to dignity, power, and progress.

“Black Bike Week is the physical embodiment of Black August—movement, memory, and a collective push toward freedom. When we ride, we ride for our health, our history, our joy, and our future.” - Anthony Taylor
